Arts Administration

As the Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at Castle of our Skins, Ruben leads all community and educational initiatives. This includes managing the annual Black Student Union Intercollegiate Fellowship, the Music Inclusion Hub, and maintaining educational partnerships with music institutions. Leading a team of teaching artists, he oversees the development of new K-12 curriculum guides and production of educational workshops, offered directly to schools and community organizations across the Boston area.

Ruben also works with the PostClassical Ensemble (PCE) to develop and maintain continuous educational educational programs. He has designed annual in-school workshops and field-trip visits for multiple K-12 public schools within Washington DC. Along with his work inside the schools, Ruben assisted in re-affirming PCE's Ensemble-In-Residence program with Georgetown University, offering students more opportunities to engage with PCE through instrumental coachings, internships, and participation in in-school educational programs.

As General Manager of the New England Philharmonic (NEP), Ruben executes the day-to-day operations, finances, and communications to produce four annual subscription concerts. He also executes education programs with the Boston Children's Museums, annual Call for Scores, and Young Artist Competition. Ruben was also instrumental in launching the New Music Readings, providing additional opportunities for applicants of the Call for Scores to hear their music performed by the NEP, and receive mentorship from guest composers.

Prior to these appointments, Ruben worked at the Berklee College of Music in the Office of Academic Affairs. Along with providing administrative and program support to three administrative offices (Faculty Development, Graduate Studies, and Institutional Research), he led the creation of the Graduate Student Board to offer more engagement opportunities for students at Berklee.

While working with Boston City Singers, specifically managing the Cambridge Cantare, he established a new after-school music instruction program and initiated new recruitment workshops to have teaching artists recruit students directly into their schools. Ruben also designed and facilitated The Parent Council to involve parents in programming decisions for the organization.
