As the Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at Castle of our Skins, Ruben provides primary leadership, management, and strategic direction for all education and community engagement initiatives. This includes leading the Black Student Union Intercollegiate Fellowship, Teaching Artist Mentorship Program, Student Repertoire Commissioning Project Music Inclusion Hub, and other year-long projects with K-12 educational partners. Leading a team of teaching artists, he oversees the development and production of educational workshops and recitals, which are brought to education and community sites across the Boston area.

Ruben also works with the PostClassical Ensemble (PCE) to develop and produce educational engagements that extend the orchestra's impact into the K-12 and collegiate spaces. He leads the design and curation of in-school programs that highlight the various content areas PCE programs on its artistic season, which include classroom visits, dress rehearsal field-trips, and assembly performances. Ruben helped PCE become the first Washington DC-based ensemble to participate in Carnegie Hall's Link Up program, and to ratify an Ensemble-In-Residence agreement with Georgetown University to expanded engagement activities to the students, faculty, and staff.

Previously, Ruben served as General Manager of the New England Philharmonic, where he managed all operational, financial, and marketing initiatives for its four subscription performances and two annual competitions. Ruben was also instrumental in launching the New Music Readings, providing additional opportunities for applicants of the Call for Scores to hear their music performed by the orchestra, and receive mentorship from guest composers. He additionally worked at the Berklee College of Music's Office of Academic Affairs, providing administrative and program support to three administrative offices (Faculty Development, Graduate Studies, and Institutional Research). On top of these duties, he created the Graduate Student Board to offer more engagement opportunities for students at Berklee's Boston campus. During his time as Cantare Programs Manager and Recruitment Manager with Boston City Singers, Ruben created new after-school music instruction opportunities, in-school recruitment workshops, and The Parent Council to engage parents in programming decisions for the organization.
