Ruben has mentored violin and viola students of all ages since 2013, helping them define and achieve their personal performance goals. He is committed to supporting students through their music growth, while fostering a deeper understanding of their artistic and personal self.

Ruben welcomes motivated students eager to learn; whether learning the fundamentals, refining their technique, performing specific repertoire, or preparing for a career in music.
As a teaching artist, Ruben taught for four years as an elementary and middle school strings teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools and Prince William County Public Schools.During that same time period, he worked with the DC Youth Orchestra Program as a violin/viola beginning-level teacher, sectional coach, and director of an intermediate-level string orchestra. Through his commitment to access of high-level instruction, he additionally taught violin lessons through the Prince George's Philharmonic Educational Outreach Program.

Ruben's Core Teaching Values

  1. Instruction is goal-based and developed by student's individual goal's and aspirations
  2. Active collaboration between students, parents, and teacher to maximize musical growth and development
  3. Developing important life skills that transfer beyond music
  4. Developing life-long citizens and advocates of music and the performing arts
